Green Light for Rainwater Garden

We have installed rainwater gardens at the bottom of Vinegar Hill, Alconbury Weston.
These are intended to reduce surface water flows and increase protection to homes at the bottom of the hill. The 'gardens' divert water from the road into an underground soakaway and then into the drainage system.
As well as reducing surface water, the garden filters road run-off before it runs into the brook.
We are grateful to Anglian Water, who funded the project and to Breheny, who kindly donated the traffic control equipment.
The project required a great deal of preparatory work. Thanks to contractors Silver Fern and flood group members for getting us through this.
