Volunteers from the Environment Agency and the Flood Group did amazing work carefully collecting samples and data to improve our knowledge of soil in the catchment. Huge thanks to Miriam, Craig and Sam from the EA who gave up a day to work with us, also Chris and Patrick from the Alconbury's. As a result of their work on one of our experimental sites with special deep rooted plants we have hundreds of penetrometer, water infiltration and worm data to analyze, also 90 soil cores. We hope that is work will give us clues as to how soil may store more water after heavy rain and at the same time improve soil health and crop yields for farmers.
